Buying Argan oil
Can anyone recommend an approximate price to be paying in Marrakesh for pure Argan oil? Also is it safe to buy it in the souks or would it be fake?
I believe that fake Argan is available in the souksI would also suggest you to consider buying it from a supermarket. All the bestAsk your riad owner to get one of his staff to buy the proper stuff. There is an area in the souks devoted to this kind of stuff I would love to give you directions but I only know the route when Im walking it.The best place is on the way to Essaouira where the orginal trees are locatedAll the best
Ask your riad owner to get one of his staff to buy the proper stuff They will know where it is If you buy yourself you will get the watered down fake stuffAfter all, 30 kilograms of nuts are required to produce one kilogram of oil.
thanks - thought I would check as I had a feeling it would be fake in the souks Is there any way to tell?
Buy it one of the supermarkets in Marrakech, 'Metro', 'Asswak Salam' or 'Marjane'I bought some Argan oil from a herbalist.
I would also suggest you to consider buying it from a supermarketArgan Oil Ð’ Paul Barker HemingsTadelakt Home AccessoriesColorful and shiny products with aÐ’ tadelakt finishing, a technique that is popular in Marrakech riads.I dont know if it is 100 pure but I think so, as it really works well for me my friend who has not seen me in some months commented on how good my skin looks My main concern still is too much sebum, and the oil seems to reduce it.
My favourite is Acima Supermarket on 109 Ave Mohammed Abdelkrim el-Khattabi in GuelizAnything too golden may indicate that the argan oil has been mixed with other oil varieties to keep costs low.
ok cool - does the same gor for black soap and rhassoul clay as well?
There is an area in the souks devoted to this kind of stuff (I would love to give you directions but I only know the route when I'm walking it!!) I suggest you ask the riad staff to point you in the right direction and go and discover what is on offerLocal wears Djellaba Morocco ВВ Amina TagemouatiBerber basketsOriginating from the Sahara desert, these breadbaskets and platters have become popular in recent years as riads and restaurants include the colorful dishesВ as part of their interior dГcor. Always shop around for the best price, the last time I bought black soap the first stall quoted 50MAD for a small tub, I went outisde to another stall and paid 5MAD for a small tub
I don't mean to sound rude but if you are going to do all of your shopping in Acima you may as well stay in the UK and go to TescoMake sure to check outÐ’ the quality before you buy the best way is by smelling. do you get my point?! Part of the buzz of Marrakech is experiencing the souks enjoy it!
LOL now if you dont know directions I will get lost in general in the souks hahaha!! When you say there is an area dedicated what type of area is it - do they sell all the same things?
I went to a spice shop reccomended by locals, got a bottle of cosmetic argan oil 60 ml for an equivalent then of 70 norwegian crowns (cannot remember the price in dirham) I don't know if it is 100 % pure but I think so, as it really works well for me - my friend who has not seen me in some months commented on how good my skin looks! My main concern still is too much sebum, and the oil seems to reduce itPart of the buzz of Marrakech is experiencing the souks.Today, the process is much more hygienic, with technology streamlining the process from the time the fruit is collected. I started using it in June, but I'm now only half-way through the bottle (use it once a day, before bedtime)
There is an area where you can buy black soap, rose water, creams and all sorts of toiletries and cosmeticsMaster craftsmen refine vases and objets dвart in their little workshops and we love the colorful bathroom accessories в little containers, soap dishes and toothbrush holders in a range of colors from turquoise to metallic browns. There are a number of stalls selling the same things, so shop around for the best priceThe best place is on the way to Essaouira where the orginal trees are located. I bought some Argan oil from a herbalist He wanted to give me the full demonstration of everything in the shop but I told him there was no point because I would only buy the Argan oil
